Alexander Saunderson (1917-2004)
Head of the National Council of the Metropolitan Opera, New York
He was the last Saunderson to own Castle Saunderson in Northern Ireland. "Sandy" Saunderson served as a Captain in the Rifle Brigade when he was captured as a prisoner during World War II. He was later present at the War Tribunal at Nuremberg as the legal advisor to Lord Justice Lawrence. He sold the Castle Saunderson estate to a businessman in 1977. He lived between New York City and Santa Barbara, California, where he died.
