Built 1916, for Walter Effingham Maynard (1871-1925) and his wife, Eunice Ives (1872-1942). It was designed by the Francophile Ogden Codman Jr. (1863-1951) in the style of the Louis XIV hunting lodge on which the Palace of Versailles was built. Just 26-miles from Manhattan on Long Island's North Shore.
